About the book

Are you or someone you love struggling with hard questions about God?

Find real answers in Is God Mean?

How could a loving God flood the whole earth, including women and children? How could He send people to eternal torment for temporal mistakes? Did God really command genocide in the Old Testament? What about the slavery, misogyny, and polygamy He seems to ignore, or even endorse? Why doesn’t He end pain and suffering in the world?

If these questions have been lurking in the back of your mind, or someone you love is wrestling with them and you haven’t known what to say, this book is for you. Is God Mean? shows that the love of God is the central feature of both the Old and New Testaments by uncovering the loving motives behind His seemingly harsh actions.

Why I wrote Is God Mean?

When my friends began deconstructing their faith, they started asking me the hard questions. Unfortunately, back then, I didn’t know the answers, and my responses were weak. A lot of the pat answers and popular perspectives I found in mainstream apologetics circles just didn’t cut it, and some of my friends ended up leaving the faith because they said the God of the Bible was mean.

After that, I spent the next ten years researching, diving deep into history, archaeology, and the original languages of the Bible to find real answers. I found them, and Is God Mean? is the book I wish I’d had when my friends were searching. Now I’m more secure and confident in my faith and the love of God than I’ve ever been, and I want to pass that gift along to you.

What viewers are saying

I was always confused on this topic because there seems to be a lot of difference between the God of the New Testament and Old Testament. I’m glad to find someone taking this issue seriously and answering questions.
